Meanwhile Back in Podanur...

This morning, after a rainy night, we had a well deserved sleep-in. Especially for Max, who is a tank. Waking up this morning, around 9, a few of us (Max, Jackson, and Daniel, remember them?) took a quick breakfast and headed down to the beach, for a refreshing morning swim. The rest of the group slept in and had breakfast before hopping on the bus.
Now for the absolute best part of the day, we kid you not. The bus ride was out of this world and not because we could see Max’s well defined muscles from every seat. We experienced some extreme bumps on the road which made for a rockin’ good time. Some slept, got some good reading done or listened to their tunes. Most stared at the god-like one whose name starts with an M and rhymes with axe. A definite highlight was seeing an elephant on the back of a truck behind us just riding the bumpy road and a popsicle stop although our driver seemed a little confused when we gave him one. 5 hours later happily we arrived back in Podanur, happy to be home.

Another very welcome blog log written with style wit and always a precise conveying of the adventure, pleasure, awe and good fortune you are experiencing as a group. Thank you and continuing safe travelling to Delhi on Sunday. I imagine each day just keeps surprising you . Katie, Char is off to Dom Rep tomorrow with Ian -fully dosed with anti malarials .Gold is 1000 dollars an ounce and the Chinese government violently suppress monks in Tibet. And for you Katie Ann Coulter on Ellliot Spitzer ex Governor of New York. She writes:

"This is a disaster for Hillary Clinton.

According to the wiretaps, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was delighted to be getting the prostitute "Kristen" again. At least he knew her name. It took Monica Lewinsky's boyfriend six sexual encounters to remember her name (bringing his lifetime average to 8.2).

You know that queasy feeling you get thinking about Bill Clinton back in the White House again? Now you remember why. Hillary Clinton couldn't feel worse about the Spitzer case if she were an actual New Yorker.

Proving that Karl Marx got everything wrong -- more bad news for Hillary -- history is indeed repeating itself, but, contra Marx, the first time as farce, the second time as tragedy. Clinton's scandal was hilarious; Spitzer's is just depressing.

Most people outside of New York can't grasp the enormity of Spitzer's political free fall.

Eliot Spitzer was the golden boy with an absolutely charmed life. His parents were the children of Jewish immigrants, who created a Ralph Lauren lifestyle for their children.

Spitzer's father made half a billion dollars in New York real estate and raised three high-achieving children -- two lawyers and a neurosurgeon. In a family like that, becoming governor of New York makes you the black sheep.

Spitzer went to the best schools -- Horace Mann, Princeton and Harvard Law School. He must have written some good papers.

He lives at the perfect address (Fifth Avenue and 79th St.) with his perfect Harvard Law School-educated Southern Baptist wife -- whose parents must be telling her they told her so right about now -- and their three perfect daughters. (Admittedly, the apartment is a gift from Dad: A mere top-flight education doesn't get you an apartment overlooking Central Park.)

And now Spitzer's entire anal-retentive, good paper-writing life has collapsed in the horrifying image of a frenzied masturbator. This is the most complete coup de grace imaginable, short of an assassin's bullet.

Spitzer's life is ruined. It doesn't matter if he has defenders who will wail, "It's his private life!" It doesn't matter if he fights the charges. It doesn't matter if this was a political prosecution. As Talleyrand said: "It's worse than a crime; it's a blunder."
Love Dad ,Mum and Char.

Sounds like quite a ride! And Podanur feels like home.It will be hard for you to leave, take in every last bit. I guess by now you have learned about "being in the moment" as that often seems to be the approach to life in India.

Love the blog... keep on blogging! (More pictures please.)

Just checked the weather in Delhi during the next week- sun, sun and more sun with highs between 31 and 33.

Toronto is quiet (ok boring) as everyone is off for March break except for me and Marky Mark (not to fret MM, I hear that Kim and Allie are really missing u...at least that is what they told me to say). At least there is no traffic!

Have fun on your travels.

Mike Cohen

P.S. Lor, Buster misses u and so does your brother (he just won't admit it).

Well I thought if I was left here on my own I'd watch thee Habs game at full blast while having an Ex, but instead I was at a printer until 3am eating too many peanut M&M's, brownies and cashews. No tandoori chicken for me.

And the journey continues. Saying goodbye to everyone at the orphanage will be difficult, to say the least. You are almost coming up to the last leg of this trip. Savour the moment, or hurry up and wait.
.....Josh, great to hear your voice. Hope you aren't still feeling sick. We all miss you. Buddy misses you so much he left you a present in your bedroom, but I had to remove it. Everyone, stay healthy and well and continue to travel safe. Send more pics!!!!!!!
